First use some baking soda and a small amount of dish soap in water to clean it. Then use some pure vanilla and water to wipe it down it will take the odor away. Use approx. l quart of water to l tablespoon of vanilla. If any odor remains put a small dish of vanilla in it overnight to get rid of lingering smells.
