I guess the first step would be to collect pallets, take them apart, remove nails.
Give a quick sanding after checking for the best pieces in the pile (color, condition). If you want to use wood putty to fill in nail holes, that would give you a finished look. Stack piles of the pieces you need to cover the area. Purchase the right nails for the job. Measure and plan your layout design. Grab a hammer! Have fun!
