Go to the Dollar Tree and check out their plastic fruit. It looks anything but healthy and natural. Check to see if you are satisfied with the color. If not, scuff up the apple slightly with fine sand cloth and paint color of your choice. You can add shading in places such as stem or bottom. Let dry thoroughly. I use Modge Podge to give it a very light coat to add sheen. Again, dry completely. If more gloss wanted, add another coat of Modge Podge.
you can buy styrofoam apples, sand with 220 grit sand paper, paint with white base paint, when dry, paint with either acrylic or transparent paint, allow to dry, coat with mod podge
