Did you ever try using saddle soap? It would not only clean the leather--it would treat it by keeping it soft.

I've used coconut oil on all kinds of leather . One clean cloth to put it on in circles . One clean one to take it off.

Tried coconut oil On a small spot. Unfortunately, my dog seems to love the taste. Thankfully, he licked it instead of chewed it.
