How can I make old linoleum look cleaner?

I have the original linoleum in my kitchen that is as old as I am (almost 58). Replacing it is not in the budget at this time, but it never looks clean despite using various things to try and get it to look better. I've tried Swiffer wetjet, bleach water, Mr. Clean, Steam cleaner. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks to all of you! I appreciate everyone sharing their ideas and offering help to others.

The floor in my old house was the same. The protective coating had worn away over the decades. We used an acrylic floor sealer and that did the trick. Check at Home Depot or Lowe's. Good luck!

It could be build up of dirt, grime, and wax. Once a month I use one cup of ammonia to one gallon hot water and a few squirts of Dawn dish liquid. Then reapply wax. This is in between weekly washings.
