That's a great storage idea Judy! Have you considered spray painting the crates?
not allowed where I live. apartments are very strict.
I would spray paint them.. (personally I would spray each of them a different bright colour, but that is MY taste, not everyones' :) .. choose a colour or colours that make you happy, or go with your decor
If you can't paint, why not wrap with some pretty fabric?
What about trimming them out in some fancy
fluted mouldings. You wouldn't even have to mitre them if you bought those little square rosettes at each end where they connect. Paint it all one color.
Or add a long vine of silk flowers around the top and hanging at the edges.

I live in an apartment and take my item, tarp and paint to an empty parking lot. Office buildings are usually empty on the weekends. dead shopping centers are also good choices. It is a pain but I like the results.

How about pretty contact paper? Put a plant or two on top....or do you know a handy man who could take them with him to paint?
