moth balls or crystals sprinkled throughout the bed
some people fill glass jars, put a lid on them, & set them right on the soil
You can buy cat repellent at the hardware store. We use the granular type that is sprinkled over the area. It needs to be reapplied after it rains. We started using it last year and so far so good.
I once saw a device that was motion activated that sprayed water...but don't recall where to buy it
Sprinkle chili powder or any hot ground spice around the perimeter, making sure you cover enough area that they will need to step in it to get to your garden. They will groom, remember where they picked it up & avoid the area. As a side note: this also works for nail biters. lol
I bought a spray at Petsmart it's called 'Spray no more'... it's in the cat area. It worked for me. I don't have a cat but there are stray cats that used to come into my patio .
I have a stand of bamboo that I cut in approximately 10 inch lengths and stick into the bed. You can use any kind of twig. This provides an obstacle course for the cats without buying anything at all. As the flowers spread, the spikes are hidden.
Sprinkle red pepper around the area.
