You can set it on a pile of old books or leave it open on the floor and pile books inside it.
Place it on the floor with the lid up and put a couple of potted plants in it.
My first thought would be to open it up, maybe add a shelf or two and hang on the wall. You could even refurb the inside with wallpaper or scrapbook paper.
Here's a couple of ideas that may be interesting. It would be a nice space to do a vinet of small collectibles.
I stacked 3 suitcases to make a display table. I have a lamp and framed picture with a handmade doily which has enough hole to let the beautiful leather suitcase show through . I graduated the cases small to large. By tilting the cases a bit I had small shelf for small items. You can also add small wood legs to raise the table higher. Place a board in the botton case and drill holes through the case and into the wood. Screw the legs into the case and board.
I could be a great base for a side table.
