Just cut straight down through it. No problem.
Hostas never die!
No they never die and keep coming back year after year i dug mine up 1 year and got rid of them and guess what they came back go figure
No, but try to divide in early spring or late fall.
They will look raggedy at first but always rebound and flourish
No way!!! I've split so many and they come back the next year bigger and heartier.
