What kind of cacti?
Although many do not realize cacti do not mine overcrowding. So instead of fighting with them do a pot in a pot transplanting.Use a larger pot and add soil, place the cacti pot inside and use the succulent soil all around.
i'm not sure how putting one pot into another will help, the few i need to do have outgrown their pots badly, roots are coming out of the bottom and there is no cactus soil you can even see on the top.i may try using men's heavy leather work gloves and using tongs gently to assist.thank you for your input.
