i just redid a garden bench. The wood was black from mold. I washed it down with simple green and Clorox an then coated it with Hoods wood sealer in cedar. It has UV protection so it should last about 2 years depending on condition. Repainted the frame.
pressure washer will take weathered colour off wood...then seal it with good sealer it will last longer....don't buy the cheap stuff
EI....your bench looks great
Suggest you sand and spray paint. If you use a lighter tone color, fade will not show so easily. Perhaps light aqua. They have many types of spray paint out there that should do the trick.
You could just bleach the wood. Wood bleach is a little like stripper; buy in hardware store. I have used regular laundry bleach. Must do this outdoors on a sunny day; pour on bleach wait a short while and rinse well with garden hose. Do not do this on your lawn or near gardens.
You'll need to sand lightly afterwards and then use a whitewash or light gray stain to give it a natural driftwood finish. The oils in the stain preserve the wood and last longer than paint.
Fill your pool with paint and dip it.
Other easy option is just to spray paint in color of your choice with Rustoleum .....check the whole line in Walmart ....if in time color fades just respray again...I have done wicker furniture and other planter pots we use outside and this paint holds up extremely well....very little labor and work!
El, your bench is gorgeous! ππ»
Agree with WhyMeLord on stain and sealer. If you should ever want to change your theme paint is hard to remove. Suggest you also add beach themed pillows
Thanks everyone! Fun to do..
I would just restain the wood and varnish it with outdoor type varnish. A couple of throw pillows would bring the beach theme to the forefront.
Oh that's a shame. Good luck. Would like to see finished product if you feel like posting. ππ»π
