I am looking for ideas on how to cover a front loading washer/dryer

Z on Jan 25, 2014Are they in a closet or open in a room? That would make a difference in how to hide them. If you can share a photo that would help us come up with some ideas too. If they are in a closet or at least alcove there's the possibility of curtains.Helpful Reply

The Garden Frog with C Renee on Jan 26, 2014As Becky stated pics are a great help- hanging curtains rods from the ceiling and drapes/fabric from floor to ceiling. If they are front loaders stacked saves space and then you could add some more workspace or storage. Are they stacked? If so then you could get away with finding 3 shutters, panels, or even old bifold doors and hinge them together-3 works best-and you have an instant screen. Are you utilizing the space above them too?>Helpful Reply

Terra Gazelle on Jan 26, 2014How about a shelf over them with a rod attached to the front of the shelf with curtains pulled across the front. It would give you extra storage space on the shelf and the curtain will hide your appliances.Helpful Reply

Sarah Lystiuk on Jan 27, 2014Pretty fabric attached with velcro along the top of the front; just lift to use the machines and you can change the fabric to suit your changing tastes :)Helpful Reply

Jeanette S on Jan 27, 2014I saw on TV one of the best ideas for "making a closet" ever. Attach 2x4s to the ceiling in the desired size of the space needed (these to allow for 3 sides to be covered). Then dress out with beautiful molding. Paint everything and then attach fabric with hooks onto the 2x4s. You can attach cabinets above the w/d or shelves.Helpful Reply

Polly Zieper on Jan 27, 2014My first question is, why cover them? a laundry room is nothing to be embarrassed about. and 2. How about a tension rod or shower curtain rod, and curtains?Helpful Reply

Diane Woods on Jan 27, 2014If you have room, attach some doors to slide in front. You don't have to invest in any expensive barn doors. Anything cheap you can find at a flea market to paint and attach sliders to, even screen doors that you can put fabric or staple canvas (I use cheap dropcloths) inside. If space is an issue, than maybe bi-fold doors, or panel shades might work. A large bamboo blind might be an option too.Helpful Reply

Colleen@Lilac Drive Designs on Jan 27, 2014My laundry walks through to a 1/2 bath. I hung about 95" inch curtains to hide them. See the post here...http://www.cobabeinsuburbia.com/2011/01/organizing-challenge-day-10-laundry.htmlHelpful Reply

KathrynElizabeth Etier on Feb 01, 2014Are they side by side? Do you want to use the tops as counterspace? If so, get magnetic curtain rods (WalMart has 'em) and hang fabric or curtains of your choosing across the front. When it's time to do the wash, you just remove the whole thing, curtains and rods together.Helpful Reply
