You can use them as a table cloth. Back them with fluffy type fabric and use as a blanket. If your brave you can cut them up and make a skirt with a lining.
depending on how tight the crochet is... you could use it as wallhanging above the bed, or elsewhere. You may have to put a backing to it (if it does not have one).
I would just box them up and send them to me. Then I can use them as table covers, furniture throws. folded on the bottom of my bed, or just so many possibilities. Wait....I guess you could do that too. Well, then never mind sending them.....
Use them - my mother "saved everything for nice" then we had earthquakes and lost stuff and when she passed there were beautiful things she never even used. I drink juice and water out of crystal goblets . . . I burned all her "fancy" candles - every day is special - enjoy your stuff!
I found that the best way to keep quilts, and crochet, is first remove any stains that you can, very carefully. I use the Fel Naptha. Soap and use cold water. Then my present washing machine is large enough to handle up to a king spread, so I would was in on gentle, in cold water. Then you may dry them in a dryer with a cool setting.. For quilts, you may roll them up and put them inside a pillow case (king). The old timers say to recollection them every six months. For blankets I fold them and also put them in a pillow case, however, I have a very lovely bedspread that was given to me that I have on a padded hanger in my extra closet. How wonder to have such lovely things made from your family, things to cherish for years to come. I also get mine out of the pillow case and use them for a very short time, however, no rooms that are with heat and air and no pets on them, please.
You can get a satin sheet big enough to cover the bed you want to use the spread on. Just position the crocheted spread in the middle. I once had a white crocheted spread and I bought a Big Pink satin sheet for my daughter's twin bed. The pink showed through the crocheted spread and I got lots of comments on it. you could use a black satin sheet to add sophistication!
i suggest hang it on the wall by it self.. i crochet and thats what im been doing
Use them, don't let them be forgotten. Who ever made them, intended for them to be used, not forgotten. Take them out for special occasions. If you have a daughter, parts could be used on her wedding dress. If they're hidden away, future genrations may not appreciate them and just throw them out or give them away. Strangers could end up with them who might appreciate them or use them for their pet's beds. Better to show them off.
Use them on your beds. Hang them on sliding or french doors. I used old quilts for curtains and also for table cloths. (depending on size) If you don't want to use them on your bed they look nice folded at the bottom of your bed to display.
I have one I use for a shower curtain over the water proof one.
