Adding organic material to your clay soil will go a long way towards improving it. While there are a great many organic soil amendments, for improving clay soil, you will want to stick to compost or materials that compost quickly.

Usually adding compost and sand to clay soil will help loosen it up considerably. Use a rototiller, and work it into the soil.
Thank you everyone. At one point I had to use a pick axe and I just knew there had to be a better way. I appreciate your suggestions and will use them all.
