My paint in my Rec Room is Aqua and white trim. I have up a curtain on dbl. windows, which I made: Peach, colors of aqua, peach and aqua wheat design, hard to explain, but they match perfect. To go the same shade, or a shade that is in the same color group. Stripes or floral would add, even if you made tie backs or a valance. Think out of the box and it will all come together.
I personally would not use the exact same color. If there is even a slight difference in the color though that would be perfectly fine.
Same color curtains will blend to the walls. It may make a smaller room appear larger. Personally, I like patterned curtains that blend with the wall & furniture colors. It's more interesting.
You can go either way, depending on the look you are trying to achieve. I would suggest a couple shades darker to provide contrast or the same shade if you want them to blend in. Or go with a print or pattern that incorporates the wall color for a different look. If purchasing, I always buy a bunch of options, try them all, keep what looks good and return the rest.
You can use any color you like. It is your home, and you should feel free to hang curtains that you love. Matching curtains will blend in and make the room look larger, but non-matching curtains will add a pop of color and contrast making the room more interesting. It's your choice!
You can use a matching color or a contrasting color. I personally like to use contrasting colors. I usually like to use a print as well. I like to have solid color couch and love seat and sometimes a print/stripe accent chair. Then the curtains pull in those colors. Right now I have brown leather couch and love seat, and a subtle brown and rust paisley print chair with rust orange accents around room, tan walls and the curtains are a natural color with orange, brown and green printed tab tops on them. Sounds dark but they are big windows so lots of light. Saltillo tile and lots of green plants.
What about a soft sand color? Aqua is a strong statement color so a sand color would complement and soften it a bit? Have fun!
Wow your room sounds gorgeous. Im trying to do a beachy theme, thats why I went with the aqua walls. The couch and chaise Im getting are a sandy color and a set of white tables. Im just not sure about the curtains. I think I will hang what I bought and see how they look and if I dont like them I will take them back and look for something else. I do like the print idea since Ive always had solid curtains. Thank you.
Hello Carla; I would suggest that you take a paint swatch, and go shopping!!
If I were looking for new curtains that is what I would do!!!
This little thing will make your life easier, if you are trying to match/find colors which will work with your furniture and what you currently own.
Please purchase what you like, and enjoy. Start slowly, and add things that make you happy!!! (Antiques & even old fabrics are a nice choice)
I hope that this will help you. Take Care!!!
