Looks like Loco Weed or also known as Skunk Cabbage.
Looks like it may be Mullein. It is a weed but it is also called a medicinal herb. It's used for several things. So if you are into medicinal herbs....
Oberlinmom 1 is correct; some 250 varieties of Mullein!
It is mullein...I let them grow...Monarch Butterflies love them...and I love the butterflies
Mullein is a wonderful treatment for chest congestion. Seeds have to go through a digestive system before it will sprout. It is so hardy, it will grow between cracks in a sidewalk. Monarch butterflies are attracted to the blooms and gold finches are attracted to the seeds left after blooms fall.
I agree. But in Florida, we call it Mullen. It is boiled and used as a poultice for aches, pains, and sprains. It really works if you know how to prepare it. It grows really well in sandy soil. I have tried to get it to grow in Tallahassee, which has clay soil; with no success. I love the plant just for old time sakes.
