How to treat a ever-tripping circuit breaker?
Circuit breaker question: I have a 20 amp breaker that keeps tripping. Can I replace it with a stronger one? Or...?
I would call an electrician and ask.....do you mean just the pull out circuit or do you mean the whole circuit box?
call a pro. Usually you have to see which breaker tripped. It should be labeled as to room or area. If is in a breaker box flip the breaker back on, and see if it happens again. Go unplug every thing in that room/area. Flip the light switch On. Got light..good. Plug in 1 more item. Got power...turn on a differet device. Continue plugging in electronics 1 at a time. When the breaker flips again....remove two items from outlets.
Mgroshong -This is a question for an Electrician NOT a D.I.Y.-er, Because the main question is why are you replacing a circuit Breaker?
Here is a link for you. If you do not have the necessary tools or are the least bit uncomfortable, call in the pros - electricity is nothing to fool around with. It is not expensive - and hire someone licensed. Good luck!

My husband and I are electrical contractors. He is the master and im his helper. Why do you want to replace the breaker? If a breaker trips it is doing its job. Telling you something is not right. Whether there is a short or it is overloaded, it tripped for a reason.
Thank you all so much! I now know what to do. As a woman who worked in the engineering field for 43 years, understand what you've been trying to tell me.
I'm now 84 and pretty much have been doing everything on my own.
Just redid the A.C. in my auto yesterday.
Thank you again...
