That sounds nice. I would go with fabric instead of screens. You can customize them by changing out the panel when you like. And absolutely frame them to keep the fabric taut. Good luck. Would love to see the end results.
we just stapled the fabric wall to the existing wood supports.....the floor joist above and the rafters.
I would do wood framing , easier to stretch and staple fabric. I agree with Dfm, I don't know if I'd go to the trouble of 'hanging' them unless they were being used as a divider . Just tac them to the existing wood framing of the existing basement wall.
Thanks all for the thoughtful comments. Will definitely provide pics when I get started ... Nothing happens fast. Should be my byline
I would be sure to select a fabric that doesn't absorb moisture as it may mildew, you can also run a dehumidifer during damp season.
I had an apartment once that had huge sliding shoji screens that ran on a ceiling track I loved. Just a wood frame with fiberglass paper that I got at Tap Plastic to repair one. Very durable. The frames would be easy to make, see pics http://www.roomdividers.com/shoji-screens.html?gclid=CjwKEAjwtJzLBRC7z43vr63nr3wSJABjJDgJONXj5ioBNhCX-lLJmOQDs_wt1-GDBOhmZBgIDcwkSRoCmEvw_wcB#/?_=1&filter.ss_style=Sliding%20Doors&filter.ss_height=7%20ft.%20Tall&page=1
How about setting it up like a giant shower curtain? Attach a pole at the top and bottom of the area, attach shower curtain hooks to the fabric panel at the top and bottom to stretch it tight, then slip the curtain hooks over the poles. Slide the fabric panels across the space to cover the walls.
