With strawberries in hanging pots, which is what I do, you don't really get as many strawberries because they can't draw the moisture and nutrients from the soil continuously no matter how hard you try. I have mine hanging because I can't be way up on the hill where my veggie garden is to protect them from critters constantly.

In Florida the farms plant them on little rows of mounds...I am sure there is a reason..maybe to make the fruit easier to get to...

I grow mine in the ground and sometimes, I use the runners they send out after bearing fruit in hanging baskets or sometimes I take some of the plants out of the ground and plant in baskets, my plants in the ground are about 10 years old, I started out with about 4 plants and I now have about 30 or more. I get quite a few bowl fulls for both my husband and I enjoy.
