Bleach'm. First, if they're old & have been washed several times, the yellow probably won't come out. However, if they're fairly new, try washing them inside out with about a 1/2 cup bleach -or Oxy Clean for whites. Don't put any other cleaners or softness in the washer.. only the bleach or Oxy Clean. Wash with warm water. Don't dry'm til the stained yellow comes out.
Hope that helps 🙂
Hello Ras; I would soak them overnight in my washing machine with a very small amount of bleach that has been mixed with a full load of water.
I would then add the shirts and let soak. The next morning run the water out. remove the shirts and see how they look.
If they still do not look good, I would run them in a full load with Oxiclean, or Wisk detergent.
I hope that this helps you!!! Take Care!
My grandma always said the best whitening out there is the sun. Run white vinegar in the rinse and hang outside.
Add 1/2c of 20 Mule Team Laundry Borax to the wash, and soak.
I don't use bleach but instead use Oxyclean. Works great even in an energy efficient washer. I've had bleach yellow white cotton that had a finish or was a slight blend with another fabric. I ruined a lab coat that way. I keep a dishpan just for soaking stuff, and have good luck with just Oxy and hot water, soaking until the water cools. Then just rinse and soak again if you still aren't happy with the color. You can also use this method in a kitchen sink (cleans the sink, too).
baking soda a vinegar soaks work great
I use about 1/4 cup of hydrogen peroxide to wash my whites. Bleach tends to yellow whites over time and breaks down the fabric.
soak in borax before washing
borax and wash in cold water
I do a short cycle using a small amount of bleach, then do another wash cycle and often add my light colors and stuff that can't have the bleach in the 2nd light dirt cycle
I've also soaked things in a sink or pail with some automatic dish soap mixed in (like Cascade)
