Yes you can! Several Hometalkers have done the very same project for that very reason.
I totally understand, I'm in Phoenix and we get that alot. Unfortunately, once they fade, the fabric gets really brittle and you never know when they'll split. Dye did NOT work, don't mess with it. I tried fabric paint one year and it made it very stiff to sit on. So, if you want to try it, I'd say use fabric paint, but mix with a little bit of water so it's still soft. You want it to sink into the fabric as you paint, not sit on top because that will peel up. And maybe look for cheap shower curtains to use for fabric to recover them in the future. (Or, since it's end-of-season, look for clearance cushions if/where you can!)
Hello Sbick; I personally have tried this. I have found that the material still weathers, quite badly here....and for me, personally I will not attempt to do this again.
I have found that by bringing my cushions inside, after using that they wear much longer and I do not have to re do them, or replace as quickly.
I am always on the lookout for cushions to upgrade with, while I am out and about!
I hope that this helps you!!! Take Care!
If you want to paint it, I would suggest using google.com to search ' painting outdoor cushions '. Read as many articles as you can and also go to youtube.com and see if you can find some videos. Preparation is the longest part. Learning what works and what doesn't is part of preparation.
Good luck!
just buy or get some pillow cases and tuck in or tie ends with rope.
This does not answer my question.......the question is can Sunbrella material be stained or painted.
Thank you for your advice, but I need to know if I can stain or paint the fabric???
Based on a few inquiries the only certain answer that can be given is NO weathered fabric will not accept stain or hold paint without peeling or cracking.
