Landscaping with tall plants could do a lot to screen your backyard from their windows. Bamboo and evergreens are two good choices. There are some good inspiration photos here: https://www.pinterest.com/explore/privacy-landscaping/?lp=true
Well, Morag (love your name by the way) you could always by stripping and lace it through the wires side by side to block the view of your backyard. I believe it can be purchased at the big box home improvement stores. Perhaps you could vlock your OWN view of the stripping somewhat by hanging planters of various sorts, or spainting a mural onto the fencing and stripping (or do both painting and planters --- I'm an old hippie, so I would probably due tie-dye type painting and hang the funkiest type of planter I can find, like old shoes and crocs and beach pails, all birghtly painted of course LOL! OR if you can afford it you could always go with affixing bamboo poles on your side of the fencing, or a mesh wind screen, or even a wooden privacy fence, or pallets (I mean, do you REALLY care what it looks like on the other side of the fence?) Here's a link showing you those ideas"

I hope I've been of some help to you. Good Luck and thanks for using Hometalk for some ideas :)
You could always plant some fast growing, privacy trees. I know that both cypress trees & arborvitaes grow quickly and provide the "blocking of view" that you're looking for. Other than that, you could install a shade sail or a pergola for privacy. Hopefully whoever moves in isn't a nosey neighbor! Good luck with it.
I would plant a fast growing shrub where it will do the most good. Who knows you may like the new neighbors so much you might want to talk across your fence
Plant poplar trees , they will reach 20 ft. in two years.
Nice looking fast growing tree for what you want is a Globe Willow. Keep it watered well and fertilized.
