We had a metal roof installed on our garage and last winter all the snow slid in front of the side door. I was thinking maybe some kind of gable.
Some people remove the weather stripping, but I wouldn't.

When we did that, we taped a tarp around the whole opening and left the wet door propped open (to the garage).
Spray the door jam with furniture polish. Spray on clean rag, and wipe it up and down, then try the door. Good Luck!
