be certain to remove All hanging, damaged & interfering limbs. Also remove all interfering and competing growth (vines, palmetto, volunteers & other weeds). Consider tree spikes for feeding of the tree.
Mix equal parts turpentine and melted paraffin and paint the raw parts generously.

I'm not sure I understand what you wish to do with the tree stump. Are you trying to save the tree or are you trying to get rid of the trunk left behind? Please explain a little more.
