Had new wood deck built when do I stain it for protection?

Once you start to cover a new deck with a finish it could be a never ending project. If the wood is treated then best to leave it alone, otherwise use a transparent stain before it gets dirty.
I understand you should wait 30 days if it's treated wood. However when I googled it I found this discussion:
