I would use water and soap but I donĀ“t know wheter sisal rugs shrink with water. Some stains are from spilling drinks, some others were produced by pets.

I always pretreat carpet stains with white vinegar (wet but not soaked), then sprinkle a layer of baking soda. If you let it dry completely, you will see the stain lift into the powder. Vacuum and see if it needs repeating. Then I clean the entire carpet using my rinse and vac using a good brand cleaner.
