Check out Pintrest... they have some really cute ideas for old tires... as a snowman, as a tea cup planter...etc.
And one of our hobby farms type magazines.. tells how to use old tires for growing potatoes, as herb gardens. I have seen them cut in half, painted, and used as an "scalloped" edging for a driveway or flower bed.
Our neighborhood florist painting a tire shade of purple and then planted flowers in it. It's in front of her store and is quite eye catching.
How many do you have? They can line your driveway, if you bury half the tire, it will look like an arc along the strip. I never heard that tires were toxic to the soil, but they are definitely made of so many different kinds of materials, maybe they are toxic. They use rubber for playground surfaces, but that's a toss up. No one is really sure. EJL.
Thanks, will do.
Bear in mind that tires have been made with steel belts for a long time. If the rubber is worn the steel can cause physical harm such as scrapes or punctures. Broken steel bits get caught in shoe soles and can eventually work their way into the foot. If you are going to use tires, use the whole tire and don't cut it.
dont know about toxic, but have seen people cover 2 of them and make stools or hammocks to sit in house for seating and foot stools
You could paint them, line with plastic and use as planters.
I used ours for planters, they can also be decorations like several sizes to make frogs (frog eyes were tires standing up on top), use multi colors for bright garden or camo as we did. Here is our yard planters, https://www.hometalk.com/diy/outdoor/garden/camoflauged-but-not-hidden-tire-planters-32943435 Hope this helps.
