Is the mum in a pot,or the ground ?
i like osmocoat sustained release. the directions are on the bottle.
It depends on how dry it is, and what month it is. Mum plants do not require
as much water in the winter when it might be going through a dormant period. In the spring and summer, you should be able to feel moisture when
you poke you finger down into the soil about an inch. Water when you feel
the plant roots are dry by sitting the pot into something larger and allow
the plant to soak up water from the bottom. Mums make lovely house plants
and when cared for properly, they'll give you a long time to enjoy them.

Plants in containers dry very quickly. I water mine until the water drains out the bottom every 2 days . Every other day if it is very hot out.
