Unfortunately, this sounds like a tough job. The carpet glue sounds like it is really holding well, so you will probably just need to work hard to pull it out. One thing that might help is to cut the carpet into strips about 1-2 feet wide....then try to pull it out. That may be a little more manageable than trying to pull the whole thing up at once. Then, roll up each strip and tie it with string to dispose of it a little more easily. Hope this helps. Good luck!

When we removed glued down carpet we pulled up all we could but where left with carpet backing and glue. We used a heat gun and scraper with lots of hard work.
