How do remove chewing gum from clothes or blankets?
my son got chewing gum on a blanket and I don't want to wash it until I remove the gum but I don't know how to get it off without cutting it out.
Freeze it. Put an ice pack on it until it's hard and brittle. You can then scrape it up. No ice pack? Put ice cubes in a plastic bag. Good luck!
Freeze it with an ice cube to get as much of the gum off as you can. Then place a piece of a brown paper bag over the gum and use an iron to go over the residue to pick up the remaining bits of gum. Use a clean section of the paper bag each time you go over the gum residue. This method transfers the gummy residue to the paper bag. FYI, you can use the same method to remove wax from fabric.
If it's realllllly embedded into the carpet, and the ice method doesn't work, you might have to get down there with a little scissors and verrrry carefully cut out a few of the carpet strands to remove the gum. I had a few spots of unknown substance on our carpet when we moved in that I couldn't get rid of. Had to resort to this rather " minuscule surgery". You have to be reallly careful if you do this and it won't work with some weaves of carpeting.

If those don't do the trick try WD-40! It takes gum out of nearly anything.
Goo gone works spray on let set for a bit then try and scrape off when done clean with a little dawn dish soap to remove oily residue... If it is a pile carpet and if it is not all the way down into the fibers you could trim with scissors and it probable would not show.
Freeze it with lots of ice cubes, it will be wet, but then you can pick it out.
Useing ice, in a plastic bag, lay it on top of the gum, scrape it once it’s kind of frozen. Vac it up. continue the process until the gum is gone
Peanut butter is supposed to work, too. Work it into the gum to loosen it up.
