Does your garage door have a tiny wire protruding from the motor that is the antenna? If so check to see that it's not damaged. There are also universal remotes that may work, similar to the ones you can get for your tv and other electronics. And call an overhead door company to ask for a diagnosis.
By "remote" do you mean the wired wall mounted indoor switch that activates the closer? If that is what you are saying, does the switch have a lighted button or is it dark?
Sounds like you have a short. Check the circuits. Repair or replace wire as needed. If you're not a DIY electrician, call the garage door installer to check out.
