Platform bed, long and low dressers, nail glue wall hangings.
Use your furniture as room dividers. Rugs also "anchor" spaces. Choose one color to thread throughout the entire space. Don't make everything all matchy-matchy. A most interesting design I saw was a "wall" made of works of art hanging at different levels on cables from the vaulted ceiling to the floor.
