I clean my wooden cupboards 2 times a year with Old English furniture polish. It cleans and replaces some of the oils on the surface. I love it, but it needs to be done regularly in the kitchen area. It comes in 2 colors, light and dark. This is not for real dirty grime built up.
If you don't take them off of the cabinet, be sure to start from the bottom (as the cleaner runs down it will leave streaks that are hard to remove). There are lots of degreasers on the market, just check out several before making your choice.
Murphy's Oil Soap is my go to.
Trisodium Phosphate cleaner or Ammonia.
