I have seen where they have taken off the pulls, put casters on the bottom, and in each corner put beautiful corner brackets on all eight corners . you can find them at hobby lobby paint them and then replace the pills with a cuff ... i’ve actually seen one that had a mirrored top with a tray ....

Cover them with contact paper to make them look like new and reuse them for storage
The possibilities are endless for file cabinets. You can spray paint, hand paint, decoupage the front drawers with fabric. Use contact paper on them. Do something different to each drawer. Change the hardware unless it's the kind with the lip you use to open. You could still put a pretty handle on it.
