What is good to use for organizing buttons?

Hi Kim. You could purchase a embroidery floss organizer and use that. I have also used mason jars, or old spice jars for my buttons.

I just roll lace trim and ribbons then seal the end with some sticky tape (a small amount) Not sure with buttons - Mason Jars?

Hi. This will take a while but it's worth it if you've got some time. What I do with the buttons is spread them out on the kitchen table and sort them out. When I'm done finding all the ones that match, I catch them up with a needle and thick thread into a bundle. Then when I'm looking for a certain color or style for a craft project, I just look through the bundles for what I want. For the lace and ribbon, I use a rectangular piece of stiff cardstock and wind ribbon or lace onto that and secure with a sewing pin.

I use one of those wall units for holding screws and such in the garage, where I organize buttons by material, shank or 'sew through' size, and color.

big quantities of any one button (two-hole white shell buttons from old dress shirts, for example) get their own little jar (spice jars, then olive or salsa jars) with the lids painted, and a bunch of the buttons glued to the top.

for trim and ribbon? I scavenged vertical blinds out of the trash, and they work great, I wish I had gotten the 'track' as well, but I just have a string looped in the top, and have a bunch dangling from an old belt hanger

for small quantities? I like to use the plastic from detergent bottles to cut 'bobbins' from.

anything less than a yard, I put a safety pin through one end, and just gather them up on a string until I need them.
