salt treated will nearly always peel paint -- how about vinyl siding pieces ?
I have successfully used floor paint on old treated wood before. My application was even a high traffic floor area with no problem. Just make sure the surface is clean before applying and use a couple coats.
It is NOT recommended to paint pressure treated wood. If you do wish to paint, you must allow the wood to totally dry out. This could take weeks to months of it not getting rained on, etc. It is totally dry if you pour water on it and it soaks in.

check with your local building supply house for a plastic forms that go around post to make them look like columns (I saw them at Home Depot) or you could use aluminum fascia and wrap your posts with that
