What is a good method of keeping cat hair under control in my house?

I have several cats and most of them are long-haired. How can I keep the hair under control? Vacuuming once a week is not enough to keep it under control. I have an air cleaner, but too much hair for it to have an impact.

The best way is to brush them regularly. It helps keep some of the furriness at bay. I keep brushes and grooming gloves near where I usually pet my cats and where they settle in near me, so that I can control the fur population under the guise of petting them.
I too have a long haired cat and I have to brush her daily.
I also have pads for them to sleep on various surfaces, and I brush and shake these outside daily. And I would vacuum more than once daily if the hair is getting out of control.
I make my own cat pads using old furry bathrobes, and put a cut up mylar hot/cold bag from the dollar tree inside and some cat nip too. Add a zipper, buttons or snaps so you can remove bag and wash cover.
The mylar bag inside serves as a toy they kneed on to make the crunchy noise like a plastic bag. And it when they lay on it, it reflects their body heat back and they are all toasty warm when they get up off it. One on bed they stay on all night long.
Roomba programmed for daily use.
Brush, brush, brush. Maybe massaging with coconut oil, once a week, might help with retaining their hair. But long-haired anything sheds. Invest in lots of fabric rollers. There are "pet hair rollers" too, not different from fabric rollers, so compare price. Furniture throws for the cats to lay on and remove when visitors come.
Brush at least daily. Find one of those mits with all the little rubber spikes on it for brushing pets. Cats like this better than a brush and think they are getting a massage instead of getting brushed.
