Take them to the recycling center.
They are great for storing fishing lures.
If you have a Habitat for Humanity RESTORE Store - you can donate them. They can place the small nuts and bolts etc. in them, when customers buy them - or sort the small items to sell. Nonprofits that have art classes to paint , can use them to place paint or water to clean brushes in. Personally I always keep some on hand - if I am donating earrings or something - it keeps them together. I also use them on the workbench for small parts.
NOTE: The following Instructions pertain to canisters, containers, bottles or what ever you want to it that were used for tables and capsules. Do not use for liquids or syrups. Syrup containers should be recycled or destroyed depending on your city regulations. The time you put in up front will be well worth it in the end, so please read the entire blog !!!!!!
Empty prescription canisters make an excellent way to keep future medications at hand. Let me explain: If you need to take more than two (2) medications for breakfast, lunch, dinner, bedtime or a combination thereof this is written for you. This trick keeps your medications ready to take, and your medications can be used for days conveniently.
1. Carefully peel off the prescription label(s) slowly so that the entire label comes off and no residue is left behind on the bottle .
2. Carefully peal off any of the warning label(s) as describe in 1 above. The message is not written in a shouting voice - it is a cautionary note only. IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING CAREFULLY. If the medicine bottles are from liquids/syrups do not use. If any of empty bottles have a strong smell GET RID OF THE BOTTLE CAP. If any of the bottles have powder in it, use water and dish detergent to clean, and let the bottle air dry. (NOTE: These instructions also pertain to the caps as well. If have any sticky residue or any part or parts of the prescription and or warning labels are on the bottle DO NOT USE.
3. SUGGESTIONS FOR BELOW: Us different color of magic marks for the bottle caps; and use CAPITAL LETTERS when marking the caps. This will prevent you from taking the wrong medication(s).
4. If you have medications that are taken before breakfast (some meds have you wait 1 hour before eating) write with magic marker "AM" or "A" on the top of cap.
5. For meds taken at breakfast time write, "BR or B", on the top of caps.
6. For Lunch time, write "L" or "LT" on the caps.
7. For medication that are take before dinner, write "BD" on the caps. [Suggestion, use a different color of magic marker for writing so that it is not confused with dinner medications
8. For meds are taken at dinner write "D", "DT" on top of caps.
9. For night time medications taken before bed time write a "BB" on top of caps.
10. For medications that are taken at night time or before you climb into bed write "NT" or "N" on top the of cap(s).
You can use any system that works for you, and helps you remember at what time you need to take your medication. I have to take multiple medications at breakfast and at bedtime, so I use "B" and "N". I make up 12 or 14 bottles at a time for both breakfast and bedtime. You can even take your medications during TV commercials without having to open each of your medication bottles and be back in time to continue watching the show - you won't miss a thing. I use method at home and when traveling.
CAUTION, READ THIS CAREFULLY:
1. Do not refill your empty bottles until the last day medications are taken; this will help to keep confusion down to a minimum.
2. Make sure that you are placing the correct number of tables or capsules in the bottles - and handle one prescription at a time during filling.
3. I suggest you make up at least one two extra bottles of your medications when traveling. You never know if an extra day of two of medications is needed when your trip has delays or you won't be getting home on the day you planned - emergencies to happen when. This is very important for patients that absolutely must have their medications ready.
4. Some medications cannot be stopped immediately and not having will create an emergencies when delayed or have to stay a couple of extra days on a trip so that you don't run out.
ENJOY YOUR NEW USE FOR MEDICINE BOTTLES, USE FOR ART WORK!
Find out if your local church or elementary school needs craft/art supplies. The can be made into cute accessory containers, or used to store small things like beads.
