First, neutralize the wood from the stripping chemicals by washing it down with vinegar. Then apply a good primer, like Zinsser 123 or a recommended primer from your local Sherwin-Williams, Benjamin Moore, or ICI paint store/dealer. Multiple thin coats make a better bond...you don't have to have full coverage of each coat, because the multiple layers will give you that in the end.
Choose a paint product that is easy to work with, but durable enough for cleaning. Again, your paint store can recommend several products, which can be tinted to your desired color.
