There are many projects here on Hometalk, just do a search. It all depends on if you want to do it the right way that takes more time and expense, or the cheaper and a little quicker way. It also depends on the reason why you are putting them down.
I was wonder the same thing 12 years ago. I decided to go the cheaper route with gravel and sand. Everything went well and for about 3 years I was a happy camper. Then the weeds started to pop up from the cracks between the pavers. And the rodents decided to burrow under the pavers and made the sink. Ants were the next thing that made my experience not so enjoyable and before you knew it my paver patio didn't look so go so this year I pulled everything up and used concrete between the pavers with a very compacted gravel base.
