That may be lecithin from Pam type sprays, or from any other oil. Pour a little vinegar in the pan and turn the burner (eye) on low. When the vinegar starts to boil, turn it off. Let the vinegar cool, then use a soft scrub sponge to remove the gunk. Add a couple of drops of Dawn dishwashing liquid to remove the last of the greasy buildup. Enjoy your pans, but the food doesn’t stick, oil does. 😇💞
put a dryer softener sheet in water with the pan. I let it soak overnight. Works every time.
If your goal is to avoid all abrasives (as I do), start with a soaking in vinegar (it's a mild acid). The result may be gummy, but it's more easily handled.
Vegetable or coconut oil and baking soda. Make a paste. Spread on the residue, scrub with a towel or sponge. Rinse. Repeat if needed.
Thanks everyone!
