Ick. Mimic the 2 cabinets over the micro wave to use as a cover for the vents.
Box the area in and move the rooster and other trinkets to other places.
I can only see a small part of the room, but you might build a faux chimney which would cover the ducting and that cable (?) input. Make it narrower than the cabinets, and it could fit in but still be removable to access the duct or the cable access. Use 2 by 2s for framing and you can choose brick, stone or even beadboard surfaces.
If you can get the same cupboard doors that are over your stove, perhaps you could make a three sided fake cupboard to go over it and leave it unattached to the cupboard below it so that you could slip it out if you need to ever get at the duct for any repair or maintenance.
There are great metal prints with photos and or sayings on them. Can find at Hobby Lobby and Antique Stores. I have one above my sink on the top of the cabinet but its not covering vents. If you need more decorative, choose one or two and put something with it. Always looks nicer in groups of threes so maybe use two of your other decorative items but balancing them out is the clue! Would not have to secure but if needed put a tiny nail at the bottom of print to keep it from sliding off
Brick wallpaper, rock wallpaper on plywood to box it in, or paint it the color of the wall behind it
Don't forget to measure the height and width that has to be covered and take tape to the store and measure the metal print.
Nice. Thanks.
Put a climbing plant in front of it. Eventually, it will cover the vent. Good luck!
Fake cookbooks that could be placed up in that spot. You could glue bookends to emptied books of various sizes.
