Make sure you are drinking enough water also. The less water you drink, the thicker your blood gets, your heart has to pump harder, thus bringing high blood pressure.

Has your doctor prescribe high blood pressure medication? as a caregiver I can't tell you how many stroke victims I've talked too who didn't take their HBP medication. It also attacks the kidneys and causes damage.

Watch out for very salty foods, they cause high blood pressure in salt-sensitive people. Also, read the labels on cough/cold medicines, etc. Many of them warn about high blood pressure.

My friend who has very high blood pressure in addition to taking her prescribed blood pressure medication takes olive leaf and swears by it for keeping it under control. As a caregiver, I can tell you that most of the patients I've cared for who had strokes,,,,, weren't taking their high blood pressure meds..... and high blood pressure can also lead to kidney damage.
Controlling your cholestrol is key also, I can't tolerate the prescription cholestrol meds, but I do take red yeast rice for it and its brought mine down 100 points in one month,
eating a fresh salad (large) daily did the trick for my grrandmother and myself. Also cutting down on salt to less than 1 teaspoon daily max.
