My container vegetable garden did not do very well this year. What vegetables work best? It is a 3 by 2 area that sits on a sunny afternoon deck, shade in the mornings

Is it one container or more than one pot? That is not very big. How deep is the soil? At that size it would not be able to grow much as far as vegetables. What veggies did you plant. We definitely need to know more about this area to help you. I have been growing veggies for over 30 years, as have many of us that can help you with more information. What kind of soil did you use, etc.

I agree with Nancy that a 3x2 size does not seem adequate to support proper vegetable growth. This size is more suitable to growing small herbs. Where did you get the soil from that you put in the container? Did you start with new potting soil?

It is one deep container. I lined with coconut fiber then a layer of dirt, then miracle grow potting soil. You are probably right, my chives did really well but not the tomatoes at all. I did get bush tomatoes plants with one tomato the size of a walnut

I agree with Nancy, needing a bit more information. Making sure plenty of watering too.

Most vegetables need more than the afternoon sun, need full day. Anyway to move it. Make sure you have good drainage in it too. You may not get enough sun for vegetable, tomatoes need full day but try lettuce or herbs.

Oh, it was a mini "gourmet" tomato.
You might want to try growing the smaller cherry tomatoes. Set up some larger containers next spring, and have another go at it.
