Bleach spots demand colored markers! Find a set at an art store that have your carpet color (or closest approximation, you may have to mix two to get the right color). Color your spots and forget about it! This is tough on white or off-white but works well for most other colors. JH
ugh, I did the same thing years ago and I couldn't stand it, so I re-carpeted.
If the colored markers don't work.... make it look like you meant to do it, or it is a pattern... a random one... but a pattern... sponge on bleach on all the stairs and let sit until the color matches.... then shampoo the stairs to rinse.
it might not be the ideal solution... but it might let you live with it until you can re-carpet or refinish the stairs.
Have you tried pouring strong tea on it? If that won't work what about rit dye? You could mix it in a container and use a clean paint brush to work it in. Good luck..
Until you shampoo the carpet then you may have to touch up!
