I would fill it with fresh greens, pinecones, and berries. You could even add some clear lights.
Cover it with burlap and fill it with your favorites. I fill mine with plastic pumpkins ( that I bought from Michael's)for fall, small teddy bears for Xmas. You can also add a ribbon at the handles if you like.
Line it with Christmas fabric.
Fill it with scented pinecones, evergreens,Christmas balls, and clear lights for a wonderful Christmas decoration that would go in any room at even on a front porch. Here is an example of what I am referring to (I know it is not the same type of basket).
I wrapped mine in painters masking paper, tied twine around out and filled it with pine cones, about 2/3 from around town and 1/3 cinnamon scented. Nothing is permanently attached. Just measured lengths of paper long enough to go from the bottom interior, up over the side, down under the basket, back up the opposite side and into the bottom. Roll the straight edges in along the length before wrapping. Do this a few times to cover all the basket, overlapping the previous wrap as you go. Tie about five pieces of twine bunched together around the basket tying a bow at the end. Fill will pine cones. I placed mine on my hearth. You could also wrap it in fabric or strips of old jeans and fill with rolled fleece lap blankets.
