Buy them their own carpeted multi-level cat tree..... you are fighting 60 million years of evolution. They also like the window shelves too. Its their nature to like to be off the ground where predators would have preyed on them.

LOL, me too. And I put down folded towels they like to lay on so I can just throw them in the washer.

Spray them with water. Be consistant till the behavior ceases. If you don’t have a cat tree they might prefer one one over the furniture. Cats especially like window hammocks. If they still prefer the furniture cover it when you’re not home. They don’t like plastic or tin soil.

My cat insisted on jumping up on my vanity and chest of drawers. Foil did not work. I finally put sand paper with sand side up and two sided sticky tape on them and he jumps up and immediately back down. He doesn't like the feel on his paws. Hopefully, he will break his habit soon. The tape doesn't stick to the sandpaper and had to place it in between pieces of sand paper plus I put all of this on a piece of large cardboard so it can be removed easily for cleaning. I will try putting duct tape on the sand paper to see if it will stick and if so I will make a circle of it, tape it together and place it sticky side up on the sand paper.

Sorry to say this to you guys, but best solution to this problem is to get a dog. Even then you won't win. You may think puss is "trained" to stay off of/out of things & places.....that's a no. Set your house up for your cats & everyone will be happier & much less stressed, and you don't want stressed cats, super unhealthy for them and $$ for you. Cats r cats & that's that😻😻

I used tin foil some sticky tape on one chair and got them a cat tree and I keep their nails trimmed al the time and they do bother my furniture at all

They need their own furniture. Plus they love dog beds to sleep on. Cat nip sprinkled on their furniture helps too.

Check out My cat from Hell or Jackson's new show Cats Versus Dogs. This guy knows cats and humans. Most of the time animal's bad behavior is caused by humans. My favorite was the guy who complained about the cat using the house for a litter box. "I change the box every 2 weeks" I have one who wakes me up to scoop her favorite box because one corner is soiled. CATS are NOT dirty creatures. Same with the cat trees.
