Check at the dollar stores for inexpensive lighting. Watch sales at the big box stores. A specific area, like the walk or the entry way door looks great and creates a focal point - lighting the whole yard, not so much.
Are you looking to use solar lighting, or hardwired landscape lighting? We purchased some solar lights this year at Walmart ( $3 each)and actually they were more structural and attractive than what we have seen before. The globes were actually glass ( which may not appeal to all) and lit up our concrete walkway - mulched bed very nicely.
The solar rechargeable lights of course do not work work well in shady areas.
We picked up a large set at the Home Depot for under $100.
Best Pro lighting seems to have a great all-around selection for landscape lighting. Usually find cheap fixture ranging even up to less than $30, with good quality as well.
