Loose fitting toilet seats- any suggestions?

I recently replaced two plastic toilet seats with new wooden sets (Included nylon bolts). The problem is they are no longer a tight fit, slipping sideways slightly when in use! What can I do? The bolts that came with the set but seem smaller than required for the Bowl and soon work loose. Any sugistains other than buying another set?

Take a piece of paper, put on one side of holes in bowl, trace size of hole with penci. Then take to hardware or big box store and ask for toilet bowl screws to secure seat to bowl. Might also want to measure dept.

Another way is to wrap the bolts with teflon tape to take up the space, where they go through the bowl, and make sure the bolts are very snug. Nylon bolts are tough but strip more easily than metal ones.

Did you save the bolts from the old seat? You could also wrap the bolts with layers of duct tape to fatten them up.

Solved issue by using nylon washers between bolt and top of seat opening, excess play now removed! Thanks to everyone who were kind enough to respond! Rusty
