I would spray paint it with Rustoleum 2X for metal
Chalk paint is thick and will make this piece look "heavy". Clean well and spray paint to preserve the look delicacy.
What a great find! I rehabbed a similar item by spray painting it with Rustoleum first in a dark gray, then hand painting accents with shades of green acrylic and finally sealing it all with clear sealant. I wanted it to be weatherproof for outdoor use.
I agree. Spray paint
Spray paint in whatever goes well with the area you plan to use it in. We applied Rust-Oleum's hammered metal spray (a paint and primer in one) in copper color to a similar tiered wire piece for use in a bathroom where the sink, faucets are copper. Even in these moist conditions it held up very well.
